[edit]turanid race does not exist.
i think the editor of this article expressed her(his) feeling through quotation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.102.198.89 (talk) 14:24, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- Turanid race do exist------Those who don't think so should read some books on anthropology
Finn Diesel additions
[edit]The recent addition that Finn Diesel (talk · contribs) has been trying to press into the article through edit-warring [1] is unacceptable, for a number of reasons:
- It is unsourced. The alleged source doesn't say the things he is claiming. It only mentions the mere existence of a Turanid race but says nothing about the details claimed.
- Even if the source was pertinent, it is highly doubtful if it would count as reliable, being a mere webpage on a self-published website run by a known proponent of racialist fringe ideas.
- The passage is out of scope with the contents of this article. The article is meant to take a meta-perspective discussing the belief in a "Turanid" race from an outside perspective. That belief is, today, a fringe view (see Scientific racism). F.D.'s addition simply asserts alleged facts about this "race" from the perspective of the proponents of this fringe view.

- I agree entirely with Furure Perfect's comments above. Richard Keatinge (talk) 10:03, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Neutarlity
[edit]the existence of a Turanid racial type or "minor race", subtype of the Europid race
not mentioned that in FSU it considered more Asian then Europian. i.e. vice versa than shown in this article (Idot (talk) 15:55, 24 November 2011 (UTC))
- The turkic race is europid with asian admixture. Saying that it is the other way around doesn't change anything. Turks differentiate themselfs from true asiatic descent like mongoloid. Among turks it has always been accepted that they have a caucasian steppe ancestry. It would be highly strange to call them otherwise than that they would identify themselfs as such. Furthermore, the Europid race is considered by scientists as a broad race which stretches from north-africa, europe to near asia. The turkish people have a right to identify themselfs out of the gene pool of what their ancestry shows. Citing the above reasons, I am removing your neutrality dispute. 178.84.115.162 (talk) 06:39, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Do we need a new article for "South Siberian race"?
[edit]The Russian wikipedia distinguishes between "Turanid" and "[|South Siberian]" as two different terms designating the same anhtropological type. I suggest a new article. - Éredet (talk) 22:25, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
Obsolete term
[edit]The introduction says that Turanid is an obsolete term. However, adding alternative names for this ethnic group confuses the issue, as it is then no longer clear whether only the original term or all additional terms are obsolete. To make it worse, the alternative names are not always the same as can be seen [here]. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 12:58, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Who are they?
[edit]Obsotete it is, but who were they meant to be? EXAMPLES! List of corresponding modern ethic groups, illustrations, maps... Article too vague, both for non-specialists and specialists. I know little more after rading it. Arminden (talk) 05:28, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
